Account & Data

Delete your account or export your data.

This page explains how to permanently delete your KetoCypher account, how to delete your data while keeping your account, what is removed in each case, and how to export a complete copy of your data first. It applies to the KetoCypher Android app (package com.ketocypher) and to the website waitlist.

1. Before you delete: export your data

KetoCypher is end-to-end encrypted, so the complete copy of your food log, weight, biometric readings, ratings, fasting sessions, custom foods, and recipes lives on your device, not on our servers. The only complete export comes from inside the app.

  • Export from the app. Open KetoCypher, go to Settings, then Backup, and choose Export. This writes a portable .kcbak file you can save anywhere (your device, a folder, cloud storage). The file stays encrypted with your master key, so keep your password or recovery phrase to open it later.
  • Account details we hold. If you also want a copy of the limited account information stored on our servers (your email address and account metadata such as creation date and tier), email [email protected] from the address on the account and we will provide it.

Deletion is permanent. Once your account and any encrypted backups are removed, they cannot be recovered, because there is no admin key on our side.

2. Delete your account

To request permanent deletion of your KetoCypher account:

  • Email [email protected] from the email address on the account, with the subject line Delete my account.
  • Send the request from the account email address so we can verify ownership. If you cannot send from that address, include enough detail for us to confirm the account belongs to you.

We confirm the request and complete the deletion as described below. You will receive an email confirmation when it is done.

3. What gets deleted

When your deletion request is processed, we remove:

  • Your account record, including your email address and the password verifier used to sign you in.
  • Your account metadata, including creation date and tier.
  • Your encrypted backup blobs (Premium Backup users only). These are ciphertext we cannot read, and they are deleted in full. Because we never had the plaintext, no readable data remains anywhere on our servers after this step.
  • Your waitlist entry, if your address is on the landing-page waitlist.

4. Delete your data without deleting your account

You can erase your data and keep your KetoCypher account. The method depends on where the data lives:

  • In-app data on your device. Delete individual entries in the app, or clear the entire local database while keeping your account by following the device steps in section 5. Your account stays active and you can sign back in to a fresh, empty database. Make sure you know your password or recovery phrase first, because clearing also removes local sign-in state.
  • Encrypted cloud backups (Premium Backup only). To remove the encrypted backup blobs we store while keeping your account, email [email protected] from the account address with the subject Delete my backups, or delete them from the app's Backup screen. We delete the ciphertext in full; your account email and sign-in remain intact.

This does not close your account. To remove the account itself as well, see section 2.

5. Data on your device

Everything you entered in the app is stored in an encrypted local database on your phone and never reached our servers. Deleting your account does not erase that local copy. To remove it from your device:

  • Uninstall KetoCypher, which removes the app and its local database, or
  • Open Android Settings, then Apps, then KetoCypher, then Storage, and choose Clear storage.

Any .kcbak files you exported yourself are under your control. Delete them from wherever you saved them if you no longer want them.

6. Timing and retention

  • Timeline. We action deletion requests without undue delay and within 30 days of verifying the request.
  • Backups and logs. Residual copies in routine system backups and standard request logs (for example IP address and user-agent, kept for security and abuse handling) are purged on their normal rotation, typically within 90 days.
  • Records we may retain. We keep the minimum records the law requires, such as transaction or tax records tied to a purchase. Subscription and one-time purchases made through Google Play are also recorded by Google under its own policies. These records do not include any of your encrypted in-app data.

7. Your GDPR and UK GDPR rights

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because of the architecture (we cannot read your data), for most categories there is no plaintext on our side to access, rectify, or port; the in-app .kcbak export is the only complete copy, and the deletion process above covers erasure of what we do hold. For the full picture of what we store and why, see the Privacy Policy.
